Many aspirants who wish to study
abroad are keen to know about the different visa processes for popular
study-abroad destinations. While the aspirant might find difficulty with the
visa processes of one country, a different country might be more suitable to
him/her.
This article compares visa processes for
Ireland, Sweden, France, and Singapore for the benefit of candidates who wish
to study abroad in one of these countries.
Ireland
The most important requirement for an
Ireland Student Visa is to
demonstrate that you have sufficient funds for your University fee and living
expenses. The standard amount specified by Irish Visa Authorities is a deposit
of at least €6,000 towards tuition fees.
Besides an amount of at least €10,000 need to be shown
for living costs. After the amount is arranged, you need to make an online
application as well as an offline one.
The next step is to book an
appointment with VFS global. On the appointment date you will need to:
- Submit your original documents as well as their scanned copies for verification along with the offline application form.
- Provide your Biometrics.
The visa processing requires a minimum
6 to 8 weeks after which the result is announced. Your visa, if approved is
valid for 30 days and you need to extend it when you land in Ireland for your
studies.
Sweden
For the duration of study which is
more than 3 months, you will require a residence permit. For obtaining the
residence permit, it is essential that you have paid the first installment of
the tuition fee. The University will, inform the Swedish Migration Agency of
the same. Also, you are required to have a suitable insurance policy and
sufficient funds to support yourself through the duration of stay.
During the application process, you
must upload all the relevant academic documents as well as provide details of
any scholarships/grants received by you. The visa processing time is 90 days on
an average. If your Sweden Student Visa needs
to be extended, you must apply to the Migration office well in advance, before
your current visa expires.
France
A long-stay visa is needed for a study
duration of more than 6 months for France. The student should apply around 8 to
12 weeks prior to the course commencement date. The student needs to appear for
an Academic Interview at Campus France with prior appointment. Once this
interview is over with, an appointment needs to be booked at VFS France where
apart from the biometrics, the visa application form with all supporting academic
documents and proof of finances are submitted. Visa should ideally be received in
4 to 6 weeks.
Singapore
For programs offered by the
Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs), the institutions are supporting in the
process for student visa. The student needs to forward relevant visa
application forms along with related financial documents and visa fees to the
institution.
The institution submits the visa
application on behalf of the student. If the visa application is approved, the
university sends the In-principle Approval (IPA) letter which serves as a
single-journey entry Singapore student
visa.
